The Educators

There are two full-time Diploma qualified educators working in the Wombat Room. If the regular educators are absent other educators will work with the children in this room and occasionally we have Early Childhood students visiting the Centre, when this happens you will be introduced to the new people working with your child.

The Learning Framework

The Learning Framework in the Wombat Room is based on observations and photos of the children which are then transferred to the children’s portfolios. Portfolios are a collection representative of a child’s work that is selected to provide information regarding each child’s developmental readiness, learning profile, interests and achievement levels and learning growth over time.

Photos are taken each day while the children are interacting with each other and discovering their environment through play. The portfolios are available for parents to view at any time and can be taken home to get feedback from the parents about the program and your child’s abilities and skills, however, if you have any concerns about your child’s progress please talk to us immediately. Sometimes children may need some additional support to reach their developmental milestones. With your permission we are able to refer you to other professionals for further advice and support.

Throughout the year you will be invited to attend a variety of events such as afternoon teas and educator/parent meetings. These events help us to communicate with you about your child’s progress. Parents are also welcome to participate in a range of activities in the Centre and if you would like to know more about ways you can join in, please come and see us. We are here to help you any way so please talk to us if you have any concerns.

All educators at Fifth Avenue Child Care Centre attend a variety of ongoing training and in-service programs to enhance their professional development skills and ensure that your child is provided with a high quality learning environment.
